cover history

in forest of words(below):at this time the designers were just trying to intrigue thier readers with big intense pictures and lots of vivid headlines.once the 21st century hit cover lines were really impotant; they were just as important as the cover art itself.some covers of this time period actually had cover lines bigger than the cover title itself.but powerful pictures were hardly enough to catch the attention anymore ( like half naked women ) because sometimes the cover lines were so big and distracting they would intrude with the picture.
pictures married to type(below):in this time is when cover lines really started to appear in magazines.also this is when artist started to figure out how to really capture a readers eye in the magazines.most of the magazines have the model covering up the title name or something of the model covering up the name.

the poster cover(above):from 1890's-1960's the poster cover was the most popular;now it wasnt the only cover but it iver ran every other cover.this cover published so many covers on so many covers of alot of magazines.many of these covers of these over-sized magazines looked as if they were meant to be posted in a frame.most of these poster covers from the 1890-1940 didnt even relate to what any of the stories had to say they just pictured a season or a mood. early magazine cover(above):when magazines first started they really sisnt even have covers they just had an opening page and a title and that was basically thier title. when the early magazine first started they tried to make thier "covers" look like book covers.unlike magazines now they didnt have any contens on the page telling them what your were going to be reading in the magazine.it wasnt until 1844 that they started to get illustrations on the cover.covre lines began to appear on covers in the later 1800's.

2009 in review

best photo of 2009( above )
in my opinion this was the best photo because it shows that not only adults are into music but so are little kids.
biggest story of year: micheal jacksons death ( above )
of course once micheal jackson died that was the biggest story. i mean he was the prince of pop ( am i right ) i mean for like a whole month they played nothing but micheal jackson songs. so pretty much once the death of this artist happened it was the most tragic things that happened.

best movie: hangover ( above )

I loved the movie hangover because it was reallt funny. i loved how just one situation always leads to another. MOst of all i like that this movie keeps you laughing the whole time.

best song : successful

PLAN FOR PORTRAIT ASSINGNMENT

1.) ALTER YOUR PERSPECTIVE:
Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.

2.) EXPERIMENT WITH LIGHTING:
Another element of randomness that you can introduce to your portraits is the way that you light them. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to using light in portraits.
Side-lighting can create mood, backlighting and silhouetting your subject to hide their features can be powerful.

3.)TAKE A SERIES OF SHOTS:
Switch your camera into ‘burst’ or ‘continuous shooting’ mode and fire off more than one shot at a time.
In doing this you create a series of images that could be presented together instead of just one static image.
This technique can work very well when you’re photographing children – or really any active subject that is changing their position or pose in quick succession.

MY SUBJECT:
I chose my subject to be my friend Amber or i want a picuture of people laughing together almost like a family momment.

WHERE I AM SHOOTING:
I want to take the photo of my subject at the big rock in front of the cafeteria by the big tree. My plan for this portrait is to take a picture of her from an angle ( possibly from a down angle ) and i either want her looking straight at the camera or looking out of the frame.

TO MAKE THE SHOOT SUCCESSFUL:
To make this shoot successful I want to take the picture at an angle and i want a series of photos to almost make it look as if you were there during the whole photo shoot time.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD PICTURE:
TO MAKE A GOOD PHOTO I THINK THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING WACKY IN YOUR PHOTO WELL NOT REALLY WACKY BUT YOU JUST DONT WANT YOUR SUBJECT LOOKING STRAIGHT AT YOU AND IF THE SUBJECT IS YOU WANNT THEM DOING SOMETHING LIKE IN THE PROFFESSIONAL PICTURE I PICKED. I ALSO THINK THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE JUST A PLAIN BACK ROUND. IF YOU DONT TO ME THE BACK ROUND NEEDS BE FILLED IF ITS NOT PLAIN. I WANT TO TAKE PICTURES LIKE THE ONES ABOVE SIMPLE AND GOOD OR FUN AND COLOFUL.

photos of year 2009

I picked this photo because i like how the pictures and the boots are lined up and what these people did for the fallen soliders as in they put there portraits up so there loved ones can go see there loved one that fought for this country just as this family is doing. IN this photo the photographer used the rule of repetition.
I dont know why i just like this picture because of the angle that it is at and how the lighting is on the subject. Also i like how the subjecy was caught in the air and not positioned on the ground. The photographer used angleing in this photo and the rule of thirds.

The reason for me picking this photo is because to me it has sentimental value in a way because all those people gathered there for a reason. The photograher used the backround rule for this picture because its just plain black and in a way i feel as if he used the repetition rule.

1.)my most favorite memory of the holiday was being with my freinds but i think i spent a little to much time with them.

2.)on new years i went to my church because the teens had a party and i know that that sounds boring because i mean people think how much fun can you have at a church but trust me we had a lot of fun.

3.)when i look back at 2009 when im old and at the age of 225 i wont really think of certain events because i know that i had a great year and one thing i know i will look back on though is all the great freinds i had that year and hoping i wil have them forever also that i got to the 9th grade and knowing that i will complete the rest of my high school years.
